Obama invited to perform on ‘American Idol’

President Obama has a ticket to Hollywood if he wants it. Mitt Romney? Not so much.

“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe tweeted on Monday, “@BarackObama we loved your vocal performance so much we’d love to invite you on to #AmericanIdol this Season for a duet with Al Green.”

Obama briefly broke out into song, crooning part of “Let’s Stay Together,” at a fundraiser earlier this month.

As for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, he doesn’t make the cut, Lythgoe wrote: “If it were an election based on vocal talent @barackobama would beat Romney hands down. Mitt was very flat singing “America the Beautiful.”

Sen. Scott Brown agrees. Asked about Romney’s rendition of “America the Beautiful” on “CBS This Morning” on Tuesday, Brown replied, “He’s not going to be on ‘American Idol’ anytime soon.” The Massachusetts Republican does know a thing or two about the reality show – his daughter Ayla was a contestant a few years ago.
