Funny gal Julia Louis-Dreyfus graces the cover of the December/January issue of Capitol File and talked to the luxury mag about her new role on the HBO show “Veep.” The “Seinfeld” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine” alum plays Selina Meyer, a former senator from Maryland who becomes vice president.

Louis-Dreyfus, who endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 and lends her voice to environmental causes, said her character does not lean left or right.

“You will never know what party she’s in,” said the actress and native Washingtonian. “There’s talk of the opposition and that party and this party, but it is never identified. So this is not a partisan politics show in any way. What it is, though, is a show about political behavior. And that is where the comedy comes from.”

She added, “This is in no way a parody of [Sarah Palin] or any other female politician.”

Staying with what she knows best, “Veep” is a comedy that pokes fun at “all politicians, and the way Washington is run.” And there’s plenty of cursing, too. “It’s going to be unbelievably raunchy and funny,” said the actress who announced the show by writing, “That’s right, motherf#$!ers, I get to use very bad language,” on her Facebook page.
