La maquinaria politica del presidente Barack Obama está cada vez más haciendo causa común con el gobernador de Texas Rick Perry en contra de un enemigo común: Mitt Romney.
Romney es el oponente mas temido por los democratas, y al que los estrategas democratas ven con el casi seguro el nominado por el republicanismo. Aun cuando se considera a Romney como casi seguro contrincante del Presidente Obama en la reelecion. El comportamiento de Perry a lo largo de su campana presidencial lo hacen como posible candidato a luchar en sangrienta batalla contra Romney antes del principal evento nacional.
Los partidarios de Obama no estan exactamente coordinando los ataques con Perry. Sin embargo, el gobernador de Texas y los demócratas nacionales están reforzando y ampliando un solo mensaje, muy negativo que beneficia los dos: que Romney es un oportunista político que no merece la presidencia.
Se trata de un ataque que resonaria con los votantes tanto en las primarias como en las elecciones generales — y que pueden ser dirigidos tanto desde la derecha como de la izquierda politica con el mismo efecto.
“Va a ser difícil para Romney para vencer a Obama si no puede salir del discurso politiquero “para atras y delante”, dijo el ex portavoz del Comité Nacional Demócrata Karen Finney. “Juega ante la duda que tienen los votantes que en el no se puede confiar contra un presidente triunfante que el pueblo confia y quiere.
“No es que haya un aliniamiento de intereses entre uno y el otro (Perry y Obama), dijo Finney. “Pero es importante el de ilustrar cuan vulnerable es Romney en este asunto..
Como dijera un “operativo” Democrata que apoya a Obama al explicar la estrategia: “Tu entras en esa corriente colectiva de ese mensaje anti-Romney, tu entonces saltas en ella y la haces tuya.”

President Barack Obama’s political machine is increasingly making common cause with Texas Gov. Rick Perry against a shared enemy: Mitt Romney.
Romney is the opponent Democrats most fear, and whom Obama strategists view as the near-certain Republican nominee. Yet even among strategists who assume Romney will be Obama’s opponent, Perry’s newly feisty performance on the campaign trail has raised hopes that he may drag out the primary fight and bloody Romney ahead of the main event.
Obama supporters aren’t exactly coordinating attacks with Perry. But the Texas governor and national Democrats are reinforcing and amplifying a single, sharply negative message that benefits them both: that Romney is a soulless political opportunist who doesn’t deserve the presidency.
It’s a familiar attack that could resonate with voters in both the primary and general elections — and that strategists say can be delivered from the left and right with almost equal effect.
“It will be hard for Romney to beat Obama if he can’t get out from under the flip-flop narrative,” said former Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Karen Finney. “It plays into concerns the primary voters have that he can’t be trusted [and it’s] equally important in a general election against an incumbent president people like and trust.
“It’s not just that there is an alignment of interests” between Obama and Perry, Finney said. “But more importantly, it illustrates how vulnerable Romney is on this issue.”
As one Democratic operative aligned with Obama explained the strategy: “You get in the slipstream and get in behind the collective anti-Romney message. You jump in and draft off that.”

TAMPA – Sen. y funcionarios de la Camara del Comercio de Tampa trataron de no avivar mas las llamas en la batalla por los vuelos a Cuba desde los Estados Unidos. 
Pero durante una visita aquí el jueves, el senador republicano de Miami riposto fuertemente a las sugerencias de un periodista que en la rueda de prensa trato de insinuar que la negativa del republicano a los vuelos a Cuba se debia a que estaba protegiendo a los negocios de viajes de Miami.
“La idea de que yo soy amigo de los vuelos a Cuba desde Miami es absurdo”, dijo. Nadie criticaria a una persona que fuese a ver a su madre agonizante en Cuba. A lo que estamos opuestos es el de viajar a Cuba desde Miami o cualquier lugar para dar dinero al regimen de Cuba”.
En Febrero pasado, Rubio propuso una enmienda de ley de la Autoridad de Aviacion Federal prohibiendo cualquier viaje desde los Estados Unidos a paises que como Cuba han sido condenados a una lista de paises “patrocinadores del terrorismo” por el Departamento de Estado. TAMPA – Sen. Marco Rubio and Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce officials chose not to rekindle a battle over new flights to Cuba.
But during a visit here Thursday, the Miami Republican bristled at a reporter’s suggestion that he tried block flights from Tampa to protect Miami travel businesses.
“The idea that I’m a friend of the fly-to-Cuba-from-Miami crowd is absurd,” he said at a press conference. “No one would criticize someone going to Cuba to see their dying mother. What we’re opposed to is expansion of these new flights from Miami or anywhere else. The add more money to the (Castro) regime.”
In February, Rubio proposed an amendment to a Federal Aviation Authority funding bill that would have prohibited any additional flights between the United States and countries, such as Cuba, designated as “state sponsors of terrorism” by the State Department. En un movimiento diseñado para cambiar el foco del juego de la Florida, dos nuevas proposiciones para ser reconocidas el miércoles concedería las licencias exclusivas de completo-casino a tres “sitios destinos final” que dejaría los sitios pari-mutuel que estan actualmente en apuros economicos para desaparecer.
El objetivo de las propuestas de los Representante. Erik Fresen, R-MIAMI, y Sen. Bogdanoff R-Fort Lauderdale “es de reducir el juego en el estado y tener la clase de industria de juegos que realmente produzca realmente beneficios,” dijo Bogdanoff.
Eso no significaría tratamiento igualitario para ocho casinos en la Florida, que pagaría imposiciones más altas que los nuevos casinos y sería permitido operar sólo pari-mutuel y traga monedas.(Slot Machines). Significaría no más monopolio para la Tribu de Seminole, que perdería su derecho exclusivo para operar blackjack, el bacará y otros juegos de mesa en sus siete casinos de Florida y que detendria el pago de estos casinos al estado.
En vez de eso, la propuesta de ley permitiría juegos completos al Estilo Las Vegas en las tres ubicaciones en el Sur de la Florida a cambio de un $2 mil millones de inversiones cada una de las “sitios destinos final”. In a move designed to shift Florida’s focus, two new bills to be filed Wednesday would award exclusive full-casino licenses to three massive “destination resorts” and leave the struggling pari-mutuel industry to wither.
The goal of the proposals by Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, and Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale, “is to reduce gaming in the state and have the kind of gaming that is actually going to produce revenue,’’ Bogdanoff said.
That would mean no equal treatment for South Florida’s eight racinos, which would pay higher tax rates than the new casinos and be allowed to operate only pari-mutuel and slot machines. It would mean no more monopoly for the Seminole Tribe, which would lose its exclusive right to operate blackjack, baccarat and other table games at their seven Florida casinos and would stop making annual payments to the state.
Instead, the bill would allow full Las Vegas-style games at three locations in South Florida in exchange for a $2 billion investment each in high-end “destination resorts.” Applicants would pay $50 million for the right to compete for the licenses and would be judged on their ability to draw tourists from Latin America, Asia, Europe and across the U.S., Bogdanoff said. … Read more (SPT/Klas) Florida Latin Connection/Varona

Bloomberg News has opened an office in the Press Center building a few blocks away from the Capitol where theTimes/Herald and several other statehouse bureaus can be found.
The building has lost a number of reporters in recent years as newspapers downsize or completely shutter their Tallahassee operations . Additions in recent years include the News Service of Florida, an online subscription service owned by a group of Boston journalists who operate StatehouseNews.com in Massachusetts, and Sunshine State News, a website whose owners have refused to identify themselves. … Read more

Aquí hay algo diferente: La Prensa en la Capital de la Florida esta expandiendose. ( (Y ya sabemos quien es propietario de la empresa…)
Bloomberg News ha abierto una oficina en el Edificio del Centro de Prensa a unas pocas cuadras del Capitolio donde Times/Herald y varias otras agencias estatales pueden encontrarse.
El edificio ha perdido un buen número de reporteros en los últimos años como periódicos que han cortado gastos o que han cerrado completamente sus operaciones en Tallahassee.
